New research on benefits of Magtein^® in collegiate athletes spotlighted at SupplySide Global

CITY OF INDUSTRY, Calif. — ThreoTech, LLC, the exclusive global supplier of Magtein^®, today announced that new findings on Magtein in collegiate athletes will be spotlighted at SupplySide Global on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, from 9:00–10:00 AM PST.

The breakfast briefing, "Magnesium L-Threonate (Magtein^®) in Collegiate Athletes: Lessons from the UCLA Sports Medicine Study," will be led by Dr. Jeremy Swisher, MD, UCLA Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor and sports medicine physician.

Magtein is the patented, proprietary form of magnesium that supports healthy magnesium levels in the brain by facilitating magnesium delivery across the blood–brain barrier and into brain neurons, helping maintain optimal magnesium availability where it is needed.

To date, five peer-reviewed, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled human trials (RCTs) on Magtein have been published across three countries: the United States, China, and Australia. Now researchers have carried out the first study specifically exploring Magtein’s benefits in athletes. This randomized, placebo-controlled study in UCLA college athletes examined whether the sleep benefits previously demonstrated with Magtein extend to an athletic population, while also assessing recovery and physical performance over four weeks.

These preliminary findings were first presented as a poster at the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM) Annual Meeting in April 2026, and full results are scheduled to be published in a peer-reviewed journal later this year.

Dr. Jeremy Swisher, MD, Health Sciences Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA, is the Principal Investigator of the study. Dr. Swisher specializes in the care of student athletes and is the head team physician for UCLA Women's Volleyball and Swim & Dive. He has provided medical coverage for the LA Lakers, LA Dodgers, and LA Sparks.
